Beginning on March 11, 2017, Southwest is now operating a new non-stop flight between Denver’s International Airport (DIA) and the Philip Goldson International Airport in Belize City (BZE). The new flight will be operated weekly on Saturday morning, departing from Denver at 10:30 AM and arriving in Belize at 2:50 PM (Belize and Denver time). The new route is scheduled to continue until April 22, 2017, in response to growing demand to travel to Belize from the Denver market. In 2016, more than 13,000 passengers from the Denver area traveled to Belize, a 50% increase from just three years ago.
The new Denver-Belize flight joins Southwest’s recent expansion into the international market. Southwest currently operates a non-stop flight from Houston’s Hobby Airport (HOU) to Belize and is scheduled to begin non-stop flights from the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood (FLL) Airport in Florida beginning on June 4, 2017.
Southwest’s entry into the popular Belize market is the result of growing tourist demand. Celebrities ranging from the Trump daughters to Olympic gold medal athletes have been flocking to Belize to enjoy the wide range of exciting vacation opportunities, including exploring ancient Maya ruins, hiking and bird watching in pristine rainforests, and enjoying the sun and surf of the great Belize Barrier Reef. Southwest joins airlines like American, Delta, United, WestJet, COPA, and Avianca in connecting the small nation of Belize to the rest of the world, making traveling to the country easier and more affordable than ever.
