Belize in November

November may be a time of trees shedding their leaves and increasingly cold nights across North America, but it is one of the best times to visit Belize. Enjoying lots of warm sunshine and great weather, November in Belize is also a month of fun festivals and exciting adventure opportunities.

Below are 5 awesome reasons to visit Belize this November:

Celebrate Garifuna Settlement Day in Belize

In Belize, every November 19 is a national holiday known as Garifuna Settlement Day. The Garifuna are an Afro-Caribbean people originally from the island of St. Vincent who were forced to flee after participating in an uprising against the British.

More than 200 years ago, the Garifuna arrived on the shores of Belize aboard handmade dugout canoes. Garifuna Settlement Day commemorates their historic sea voyage with a dawn re-enactment of their dugout canoe landing followed by parades, street dancing, drumming, and lots of delicious food, including Garifuna culinary classics like hudut (a fish stew made with coconut) and cassava bread.

Snorkel and Dive the Belize Reef

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Belize Barrier Reef is home to hundreds of beautiful islands and coral atolls. The rich waters of the Caribbean are home to an astonishing diversity in marine life, making the reef the perfect place to enjoy world-class snorkeling and scuba diving.

Visit a Belize Maya City

Mysteriously abandoned more than 1,000 years for reasons still unknown to modern archeologists, dozens of ancient Maya cities can be found across Belize. These include sites like Caracol and Xunantunich that vied with Tikal for dominance of the region as well as iconic sites like Altun Ha and Lamanai.

The Belize Weather

If daytime temperatures averaging in the mid-80s Fahrenheit and nighttime lows averaging around 75 degrees Fahrenheit sound good to you, then Belize is the perfect place to visit in November!

ATM Cave – The Most Popular Cave in Belize

Rated by the Discovery Channel as the #1 Ceremonial Cave in the world, Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM) Cave lay untouched and undiscovered for more than 1,000 years. Originally used by the ancient Maya to conduct their most sacred rituals, ATM Cave is a treasure trove of Maya artifacts along with the skeletal remains of more than a dozen people who were sacrificed to the gods.
